Sabrina M. DeVos
Celiac Strong Camp Founder, 2014
Celiac Strong Camp Inc. President
My name is Sabrina DeVos and I am from upstate NY, specifically the Rochester area. I am currently enrolled in a master's program for Music Art Administration, and I received a BS in Music Education in 2019. I was officially diagnosed with celiac disease in 2003, at the age of six.
I started this camp in 2014, at the age of 16, for my Girl Scout Gold Award Project. I also received the award in 2014. When I was in Kindergarten, in 2002, I joined Girl Scouts for the first time with my mother as the troop leader; I am now a lifetime Girl Scout member.
My first summer camp experience was in 2006 at Celiac Camp, located in Rhode Island, which is about eight hours away from home. I attended the camp every year until 2014, at the age of 16, when I aged out. I loved the experience so much that I wanted to share it closer to home for children in this area. I want other children to experience the joy of having a few of worry free days and to create a place where they can just be kids.
