Sabrina M. DeVos
Celiac Strong Camp Founder, 2014 Celiac Strong Camp Inc. President Program Director |
My name is Sabrina DeVos. I am 21 years old and currently in my Senior year of college, studying Music Education. I was officially diagnosed with celiac disease in 2003 at the age of six. I am a lifetime Girl Scout member and began my membership in 2002 when I was in Kindergarten, and my mom was our troop leader. I mention Girl Scouts because I started this camp when I was 16 years old in 2014 as my Girl Scout Gold Award project. I received the award in 2014!
My first camp experience was in 2006 at a gluten free camp, Celiac Camp, located in Rhode Island, which is about eight hours away from home. I attended the camp every year until 2014, at the age of 16, when I aged out. I loved the experience so much that I wanted to share it closer to home for children in this area. I want other kids to experience the joy of having a few of worry free days and create a place where they can just be kids. I am proud to say that I am the founder of Celiac Strong Camp Inc. To support our camp or find out more about the camp keep exploring the website or contact us. |
